Driver Profile: Anthony's 2004 Nissan 350z Touring

I really like the way Nissan built these cars, and didn’t want to change a whole lot with it. It’s fast, does epic burnouts, and in really nice condition.

What is something really notable about it? Horsepower, rare or special modification, something nobody else has done to theirs?
I really like the way Nissan built these cars and didn’t want to change a whole lot with it. It’s fast, does epic burnouts, and in really nice condition. I added the wing I like, front bumper and hood to give it the look I wanted, and converted the interior from frost white to black.

Why did you build your car the way you did?
The first thing I did was install the OEM NISMO exhaust on the car because that’s one thing they did really good from the factory. I love the way that system sounds on these cars. The next thing I did was yank out all the frost-white interior and install black interior. I don’t like the look of the white/tan interior it came with because it looks like every other sedan on the road with their boring tan interiors. Black is beautiful! To give it a more aggressive look it got an aftermarket spoiler, CF hood and NISMO front bumper. It doesn’t take much for these cars to look really really cool.

Are you done with it? If not, what's next?
I’m certainly not done with it. I want to have all the body issues fixed. I’ve got a set of CF fenders for it, and a CWEST CF lip. So I’m going to install a new front OEM bumper, add the lip, paint all the CF to match body color and fix all the little dents and scratches on the car to make it look better. I plan on adding a rear diffuser and getting a set of 2006+ headlight housings that look way better than what is on the car now.
On the inside, I might do some carbon fiber accents. I’m definitely doing some custom leather seats too with blue and black to match the exterior.

What's your favorite thing about the type of car you have?
I like that it’s an affordable way to have a fun, daily, performance car. Good handling, it’s quick, it’s just a lot of fun to drive. Specifically, about the 350z platform, I’m a fan of Nissan – I like how their cars look over other similar cars in the same range. I have 2 350z cars now and I would prefer this car over an S2000, Miata, Mustang, etc…

What's your favorite thing to DO with your car?
I like car shows but I’d rather have a cooler car that can race and drive better than it can show. I’d love to take it to the track to race, and I love doing burnouts and just using it for what it was designed for. It’s a fun car! It’s fun to take a break from hauling my daughter around in my sedan, so when I can drive the Z I take every chance I can get. So, my favorite thing to do with the car is just driving it as often as possible.

If you HAD to start over with the same car and do it all again, what would you do differently?
My favorite part about the 350z is the way it looks, so I’d start with a widebody with matching wheels and a new paint job. I definitely don’t like stanced cars, so it would be a functional design with wide tires.
Next, I’d put in a big sound system that gives you big bass and amazing sound, SQL and SPL! I’d finish the interior with a bunch of custom carbon fiber accents and leather seats and steering wheel: a black/blue combo to match the exterior.
I’m not really interested in building the engine for maximum power because I’d rather get a GT-R for that. Instead, I’d do all the bolt-ons: full exhaust, intake, etc… and call it a day.
